Traffic Performance Measures on Two-Way Two-Lane Rural Highways

چکیده
The most appropriate service measure for a two-lane highway is the combination of average travel speed (ATS) and percent time spent following (PTSF). local driver behavior traffic operation characteristics in different countries affect operational analysis results. objective this study to evaluate applicability HCM procedures on highways Iraq. Ten segments northern Iraq were selected, more than 28,000 vehicles observed record characteristics.
results show that low flow rates, HCM-2000 tend overestimate ATS with an amount 0.0085VP, while moderate-to-high underestimate 0.0025VP considered. Moreover, PTSF; as well, decreases PTSF, density, follower density increase under study. Equations are developed evaluation performance

Analysis of Traffic Flow Variability on Two-Lane Highways
The main objective of this paper is to develop and test an approach for the spatio-temporal analysis of traffic flow variation on two lane highways. Traffic count devices located in several points of two lane highway links give the aggregate time series of data used in this approach, which is based on the Principal Components Analysis (PCA). The statistical analysis of main sources of temporal ...
متن کاملTwo-Lane Highways: International Perspective
The results of an extensive literature review of the safety performances of lowand intermediate-traffic-volume, two-lane rural highways are presented. The effects on traffic safety, as measured by accident rates, of pavement width, radius of curve/degree of curve, gradient, sight distance, traffic volume, and design speed on curved sections of two-lane rural highways are covered. The following ...

متن کاملAlternative Design Consistency Rating Methods for Two-Lane Rural Highways
Design consistency refers to the conformance of a highway's geometry with driver expectancy. Drivers make fewer errors in the vicinity of geometric features that conform with their expectations. Techniques to evaluate the consistency of a design documented within this report include alignment indices, speed distribution measures, and driver workload. Alignment indices are quantitative measures ...
متن کاملTwo Low-Cost Safety Concepts for Two-Way STOP-Controlled, Rural Intersections on High-Speed Two-Lane, Two-Way Roadways
The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Office of Safety has identified intersections as one of its safety focus areas. As part of the FHWA efforts to reduce intersection crashes and the related injuries and fatalities, two concepts have been identified: (1) rumble strips on outside shoulders and in a painted yellow median island on major road approaches and (2) channelizing separator islands...
